A clear agreement protects everyone.

Puppy identification

The final agreement should identify the puppy by name, breed, sex, date of birth, colour or distinguishing details, and microchip or registration information when applicable. Confirm that the contract and current media show the same puppy.

Reservation terms

The document should state what amount reserves the puppy, whether it is refundable, what happens if either party cannot proceed and how long the reservation remains valid.

Care records and health terms

Review the records supplied at homecoming and the complete written health-guarantee terms, including covered conditions, exclusions, veterinary examination deadlines, notice requirements and remedies.

Ask which information applies to this puppy and do not rely on a general website statement in place of the signed terms.

First veterinary examination

Choose a veterinarian before homecoming and schedule the examination within the agreement’s stated period. Bring the supplied records and promptly document any concern.

Buyer responsibilities

The buyer is responsible for appropriate veterinary care, nutrition, safe housing, training, socialization, grooming and compliance with local licensing and animal-welfare rules.

Pickup or delivery

The date, destination, responsible person, transport method and delivery charge should be confirmed in writing. Plans may change when weather or puppy welfare makes travel unsafe.

Registration and breeding terms

The contract should state whether the puppy is eligible for registration and whether any breeding, limited-registration, spay or neuter conditions apply.

Return and rehoming

If a family can no longer care for the dog, follow the contract’s communication and return or rehoming process. A Chow should never be abandoned or transferred without required notice.

Payment, receipt and signatures

Do not send payment until the puppy, amount, purpose and terms are confirmed. Both parties should retain the completed agreement, signatures, date and payment receipt.
